There are some rumours going around in some NBA circles that Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans has requested to be traded from the team. The rumours state that he’s frustrated with the overall direction of the team. At the time of this post the Pelicans sit with an 0-6 record. Despite their record, Davis has been balling hard for the Pelicans, dropping 50 points, 16 boards, and 7 steals. Yet the Pelicans haven’t won a single game. Davis is reportedly frustrated with this situation, but has yet to confirm that he wants to be traded. Durant left OKC, nothing’s stopping Davis from leaving the Pelicans.

My thoughts on this are that, as I usually state around this time period, the season is still early so the players may still be adjusting to the new techniques and plays. Davis is clearly having no issues with whatever system they put in place, but his lack of support is slowing down the overall team. Davis is clearly going to be one of the top 5 (in my personal opinion either number 1 or number 2 depending on how Karl Towns develops) players in the league in a couple years. He needs his prime years (he is currently 23 years old) to be filled with a decent set of champions if he wants a fair share at his run of NBA titles. The NBA titles that I’m entirely confident he’ll be able to attain.

The Pelicans really need to get their stuff in order if you ask me, but let me know what you think.
